Community Concerns

On our last post we said, we are committed to improving the community but we can’t do that alone.

We have added things which have been damaged or have been complained about to the city and were forced to remove. These include the message board, which we had thoughts of bring it back, but it seems we have individuals are want to ensure we can’t have nice things and destroy them. We added those signs which informed the community of this website and had to remove them. Though we are working with the city on replacements.

We have graffiti on the ramada posts and surrounding grounds and sidewalks, flowers have been removed form the monuments and wires were cut to the solar lights we placed in those flower beds to shire light on the community name at night.

Kids and adults ride their motorcycles and/or e-bikes in the parks, ripping through the grass leaving tread marks in the mud causing the grass to die and a uneven ground, which is a tripping hazard.

Tables in the parks have been hammered on, have had benches broken, were flipped over and otherwise damaged. We have replaced them and added the one in the grass between the trees along with a 3rd grill and trash can.

We added steps on the North end of the larger park to make it safer to those who we’ve seen try walking down the hill many times, but then have other complain that they are not ADA compliant, even though there are other entries to the parks that are clearly compliant. Those steps have also have rode on, solar lights kicked off, and are now in need of repair because of it.

We have also seen many kids, sometimes in groups riding bikes, skate boards, scooters, etc in the streets, and yes, sadly one kid was struck by a car. We have witnessed these kids riding against the traffic, bolting out into cross roads without looking, and others have come close to getting hit as well.

We are also currently working with the city on ways to help with the parks and students walking through the water retention area between Hern and Watson cul-de-sac and are looking for solutions to fence off, add more signage or other ideas. We have also noticed many cars stopping on the corner of Hern and 157th ti pickup or drop off their kids. This is a school issue that is being put on our community. And, yes, we have discussed this with the school but to no avail.

We’ve added more “pick up after your dog” signs with trash bags and yet, our landscaper is constantly having to be the one doing the pickup. This is not his job and it may come at a cost to the community. These kinds of things raise association fees. We’ve done our best on not raise monthly fee amount every year. Let’s not let easily correctable issues contribute to increased fees.

We have been doing our best to view whats happening in our community, but we don’t see everything. If you have noticed or see anyone doing anything they shouldn’t we ask that you please reach out to our Community Manager, Caitlin. You can stay anonymous if you’re like, we just ask that you report what you see so that we can try to correct the issue or repair any other damages.
