The State of the Community
Good help is hard to come by. As President of this community’s Board of Directors, I can honestly say that Wayne (VP) and myself have constantly tried to get our past landscaping vendor to do what they were contractually obligated to do. In fact, Wayne has personally walked this community almost everyday for over the past 1 year and a half watching the landscaping vendor, taking notes, talking to them, pointing things out, I mean you name it. And despite those efforts, the vendor just didn’t come through. Promises were broken, plants were not watered, trees did not get trimmed, etc, etc etc. Of course, to some in the community it makes it look like we’re not doing our jobs as Board members.. but I assure you we are on top of things. And we always set out to do the best for this community. But sometimes you need to play things out. Let the vendors do their jobs that they were hired to do.
But when things aren’t working, when vendors fall short and adjustments need to be made, what are you to do? Do you give them and second chance? A third chance? Do you call supervisors or upper management? Yes, yes and yes. And then what? Things still don’t look up to par and we get violations from the City of Surprise. Not only does this make us look bad, it makes us feel bad, because we’re honestly trying to get things done and stay on top of our vendors. But we can only do so much, the vendor needs to do their jobs as well or things don’t work.. things don’t get done. So.. then we must find a new vendor and start over. Well that has now happened.. again! This is the second landscaping team we’ve let go because they did not perform as they should have.. not even as a little bit. And they were a large, very large company that handles properties across the country. Since becoming Board members there is one thing Wayne set out to do.. make this place look great again. And that’s exactly what we’re going to do! And sometimes that means changing vendors until we find the right one. I don’t know if being a large vendor has played a part in there abilities to do their job, but I do know the blame always went up the chain. The vendor before them was a large company as well. So this time we decided to find a different company, a smaller company, one that we can directly communicate with the owner, and one where the owner is not only out there working himself, but also other family members and they all take pride in their work. And it’s already starting to show.
Introducing our new landscaping vendor, Poor Daddy’s Landscaping
Jim, owner of Poor Daddy’s Landscaping, has taken time to write a note to the community because he wants you to know what he and his team are doing and from photos you’ll see what they have already done.
Good Evening,
Below you will find some pictures of the progress we are making on the cleanup of the community.
As you already know, there are some challenges and concerns with the current state of the landscape at Greenway Parc II. This is due in part to the lack of quality work from the previous landscape company. Poor Daddy’s Landscaping, while somewhat slower, will continue to work diligently to complete the beautification of this project with higher levels of quality and care than in previous years.
As to the timeline of completion, we hope to have the entire property up to a standard both the residents and board would approve of by the end of February 2022. From that point, the maintenance should be much less invasive and more manageable. Currently, service is 1-2 days per week to address these issues. After the original cleanup is complete, service will continue 1 day a week on Thursdays each month.
The City Violations will be addressed within the timeline provided.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

If you see Jim and his team working, please give them praise! However, if you have any questions we do ask that you leave them to their work and ask your questions to the Board or community management.
