    New Message Board & Shed

The new community message board was finally installed this past weekend. It is a much needed part of this community that has been missing; a central single space for everyone to use to hang flyers, lost pets and business cards and for everyone to find the latest information on HOA meetings, events and news. This is the one spot all residents should come to, besides this website, to find information.

Soon, a Lost & Found box will be added just below the message board as well.

    Message Board

As stated above, this message board is not just for HOA Board members to provide info to you, but also a way for you to provide info to the rest of the community as well. There are 2 doors on this message board, on the right is the HOA Board members side, which is locked. But on the left, you’ll find a keyless lock which can be opened by anyone, but we still wanted to ensure it was weather proof so we opted to have the keyless lock, still leaving the door in place. Inside, you’ll find push pins which you can use to post your flyers. Please do not take them and do not remove any headline titles that have been put in place, such as “Resident Posts.” Please also always ensure you close and lock the keyless door after use.

The Board would like to thank yours truly, el Presidente, aka Jason, as I built and painted the frame surrounding the message board and I donated my time to do so and VP Wayne, as he helped out in the concept stage and when I needed his insight. Here are some photos of the build.

    Storage Shed

The shed is just of HOA Board member use. Please do not try to break in or attempt to see what’s in there. In fact, I’ll tell you what’s in there, the community yard sale banners and some miscellaneous storage. Having this shed is just a way for the Board members to have to keep moving things from one Board members house to another, each time new members come and old member go. There is nothing of value worth stealing and nothing that can’t be replaced. That being said, we like our little shed and we don’t want anything to happen to it. See the lawyer speak section below.

The Board would also like to thank Anthony, our 3rd Board member, as he did a great job painting the shed to match the theme we had envisioned for the message board, and Cameron, our neighbor, for helping us with the install.

    Lawyer Speak

Please note that while we encourage all residents to post on the message board, any posts we deem inappropriate, offensive or in bad taste, and yes anything negative towards the HOA, Board members and/or any residents will be removed and said poster may be fined or reported to the Police, if necessary. Anyone caught doing any kind of damages, tagging or theft towards the message board and/or shed, will be fined the full amount to replace the all, in whole, the message board, custom frame and shed. In other words, don’t do it.

Also, do not post flyers to the mail boxes, as they are actually Federal property, and you may be fined if caught posting on them.

  • New Signs

    New Signs

We have added new signs on Acoma and 159th and 157th.

The above sign, which just says Greenway Parc 2, Surprise AZ, was done in a style that I created for the message board, a sort of unofficial logo for GWP2. It’s meant to showcase the bounds of the community.

The other, on 157th entrance from Acoma, sits just behind the monument on the west side. This is meant to inform guests and residents of this website, where all information and updates are posted to.

Really though, the main reason we added these signs is because we had already placed posts on those corners, which we use for the community yard sale banners. Previously, those banners were tied to trees or covered up the monument and we didn’t feel that was right. So we added the posts, but then the posts were just left there when no banners were hanging, which also wasn’t right. So adding permanent signs with useful information seemed like a win/win situation.

The message board will be returning soon, however in a beefier cabinet. But with the new sign, we’re hoping more residents will look to this site more for updates and events.

  • More Vandalism in the Parks

    More Vandalism in the Parks

Well, I was about to post on the new table and benches we added to the parks, but then someone or some persons had to and ruin things… again.

They flipped the newly installed table between the group of trees on it’s side, pulling the concrete supports out of the ground with it. This was, well is, the 3rd table for the parks and was the reason we had placed a 3rd trashcan and grill in that area earlier. I say, “is” because the table seems to be ok, but it will need to be installed again, with deeper supports, which will cost the community more money.

Unfortunately, this was not the only table that got vandalized. The smaller park’s table in the ramada was flipped upside down. They seemed to have unscrewed one of the lag bolts and pulled the other out of the concrete, making a crack around the hole where the bolt used to be.

This is just the latest in a growing list of damages and theft in recent years. A police report has been filed and those who are caught doing any kind of theft, vandalism and/or damages will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and and will be fined any costs for full replacement of items or repair to property.

Please help your community stay safe and look great!

If you see anyone doing any of the things mentioned above, or if you have any information on the damages in the photos below, or anything else that should likely be reported, please contact our Community Manager, or the HOA Board directly. Remember, theft, vandalism and/or damages, will add costs to the community, which in the end, will lead to higher assessment fees and fines.

Photos below are of some of the damages.

    Shed was Completely Destroyed
Message Board was Broken into and Plexiglass Cracked
Tables in Larger Park Seems to have been Beaten with a Hammer
Trashcan Lid Cables Cut and Lids have been Tossed Around and Bent
New Steps have been Rode Over by a Motorcycle and Caused a Gap and Scrapes and Chips
New Steps have a Missing Solar Light
Tire Tracks / Motorcycle has been Seen Riding in Parks
Tagging on Ramada Posts which were Recently Painted
Twice Flowers in the Monuments were Stolen / Also Solar Lights were Damaged and No Longer Work
  • Theft & Damages in the Community

Theft & Damages in the Community

Recently there have been theft of flowers from the entryway monuments on Acoma, tampering with the solar lights, and damages to community property including the message board and shed. This cost the community money and, in the end, you the residents will pay for it with increased fees and possibly fines, unless we do something about it.

During my (Jason/President) on the Board, my main goal was to make this community look better with flowers, plants and more and to drive a sense of an actual community and friendship by having meet ups, BBQs and events like we just had for Halloween. I’ve lived here for about 12 years now, before I came on the Board, I hadn’t ever heard of any community BBQ nor any other event. My fellow Board members and I spend our own time doing this because we live here as well and want to see this community thrive. We want to get to know our neighbors and we want to take pride in the way the community looks. I don’t think any of us want to live in a place where is looks like its not being taken care of, where things are damaged and stolen.

A few weeks back some 20 or so flowers were taken from one of the monuments. We replaced those flowers and last night, as I was checking out the solar lights, I noticed not some, but all, flowers, from both monuments were gone. Naturally, I contacted our landscaper to see if he was working on replacing them again. But that was not the case, all flowers were take.. stolen! Who does that? I drove around the other communities to see if it was just us, and it seems so as Legacy Park has similar monuments with all of their flowers in place and lights on. Our entryway monuments may not be on all sides nor on a main street, but I personally love coming home at night and seeing them lit up and full of plants and flowers.

As for the message board, I, by myself, created the housing around it, again on my own time, without compensation. Why? Because we needed a central place for all residents to get and post information. Yes, this is also the reason I created this website, but not everyone wants to get info online and others just may not think about checking here. Having a message board gave a visual element to the community. You could just drive by and see if there was something posted or not. It gave residents a place to post your own flyers, events or lost pets. But instead of using this properly, the pins were taken, section titles were tossed and plexiglass was broken.

Along with the message board, we had a small shed for the Board to store a few supplies in. Anthony had painted that shed to match the message board colors. It may not have been the greatest shed, but it was good enough for what we needed and to see things that we worked on, treated so badly, is not a good feeling. The supplies kept in it were expensive either, luckily, mostly just things for our events; like games and activities for the kids and some small gifts like pencils and erasers. These and a few other things have been transferred to different Board members as the members change due to elections. To us, it only made sense to have a singular place for us to store things rather than our own garages. But that shed, sadly, didn’t last 4 months before it was completely destroyed and was broken into within the first month.

    We Need Your Help

If you know who did any of these things or have info you’d like to share, we will keep your name anonymous but share the info with the Police. We do have at least one witness who has provided some info and that is all that will be shared at the moment. But know that we are not taking this lightly and those involved will be prosecuted by law and fined for the amount of damages.

Have Info to Share About These Incidences?

  • Vandalism & Theft Will Not Be Tolerated

Vandalism & Theft Will Not Be Tolerated

In recent weeks, the community has had sprinklers broken, value boxes had wires cut, the new shed was broken into, the new message board has had all of the push pins removed, kids placed their homework in it and section titles that were printed just for the message board were tossed out and its also been noticed that kids are hanging and climbing on the new disc golf nets. This not only costs us money to fix and/or replace, but also has led to the flowers to die in the eastern side monument on 157rh and Acoma.

As the Board has started in the past, any kind of vandalism, theft or damages, will not be tolerated, no matter the size of the crime. Yes, any kind of vandalism, theft or damages, is a crime, even if it’s just within our community. If you are caught, not only will you be reported to the Police and charges will be filed, but you (and/or related resident on file) will be fined and will be responsible for reimbursement to the HOA, the full cost of replacement of damaged or stolen goods or property. We will be asking residents to keep and eye out and will put together a community watch committee.

While some of these things are new the community and there is likely to be wondering what is inside or a want to climb something, please keep in mind that these things were placed here for the community; to help share information and to bring further enjoyment in the parks. The shed only hold supplies, nothing of real value, but it helps the Board have one location for things and to not have to change hands every time a new Board is elected. The Board has many other plans to bring more new activities to the parks, like disc golf, but if such items are abused, any new plans will likely be cancelled.

Please help your community stay safe and look great!

If you see anyone doing any of the things mentioned above, or anything else that should likely be reported, please contact our Community Manager, Maui, or the HOA Board directly. Your identity can be anonymous if you’d like. A reward may be offered for information leading to those who are responsible for the crime.

  • 2nd Attempt Election Results

    2nd Attempt Election Results

It was a very close call, but we did meet quorum this time with the minimum of 28 submitted ballots.

Jason Etzel and Anthony Wrinkler were voted for and will remain on the Board. Jason has been President for most of the past 2 years, while Anthony was appointed to the Board by the current Board members, Jason and Wayne to fill in the 3rd seat. This Board was taken down to a 3 member Board last year.

The Board has agreed to remain in their current seats with one exception, Anthony will now occupy the role of Treasurer. Please keep in mind however, while we do have our individual roles, that this Board also works closely together, along with our Community Management team, we all try to help out each other and ensure we’re all in the know and double checking details, invoices, financials and more. This is how things should be handled and will remain being handled for as long as we are on the Board. This is why the community has been looking better and why we are getting things done.

Together this Board has added new activities, tables and benches, and solar lights to the parks or adding the message board and this website to post community updates to, and more.. and of course, we’re not even close to being done.

  • Something Newsworthy is Coming…

    Something Newsworthy is Coming…

In the past, you may have seen flyers posted on the mailboxes, even the Board has been guilty of this, but those mailboxes are actually property of the federal government and posting on them is illegal. We have also noticed flyers being posted on light posts too (which some of forgotten to remove). This is one a big reasons why we wanted to create this website, for news and updates, such as this post and to share it with the community. But we forgot one part, you. You have no way of posting to the website. You can contact the Board with concerns or even if you have something you wanted to share with the community and we could post it for you, if it were appropriate for the community, as we did for the yoga in the park offer.

    The Message Board

But not everyone visits this website, in fact some might not even know it’s here. Because of that, we still wanted a physical way of sharing news with you. And a way for you to share flyers, lost pets, sales, business cards, etc. So we will shortly have a new message board located at the edge of the large park on 157th. This would be visible to cars that drive by and any one walking or visiting the park. This message board will have 2 sections with closable doors. One will be for community news and updates only and will be lockable and for use by Board members. The other side will still have a glass door but the lock will have a permanent, affixed key which anyone could open pin their post(s). The door is there just to make it weather proof. This will be on the honor system. You will need to be respectful of other posted flyers and out dated or unapproved post will be removed. And getting back to this website, we’d also like for you to have the ability to list your business info. Stay tuned for more info on that coming shortly.

    The Shed

On top of that, we will have a small shed behind the message board. This is just for Board member use, to store small supplies, but we will also be attaching some sort of bin or box to the side of the shed that will be used for a lost and found. Just a simple box to keep things in, if anyone so happens to see things left at the parks. A first place for everyone to look for their lost belongings.

  • Addressing Some Concerns

    Addressing Some Concerns

As your Board President it was brought to my attention a FaceBook post that had a few questions I am more than willing to address.

First, David Gillies owned a home in GWP2 and was Board President. He has over 30 years high level business experience. A number of residents including the current Board asked for some of his insights when CMC cancelled their contract and prior Board President left. He will be happy to answer any call 1-630-240-7022. Please leave a message and he will call you back to discuss your concerns. David Gillies does this Pro Bono.

The community website was undertaken as emergency measure when CMC departed to give residents much needed information when confusion reigned. I do monitor the website and make additions of content that provides information and updates to our recent significant progress.

The Annual meeting was changed when there was discovery of HOA law that mandated a prior vacated Board position be up for election. The minutes from a prior community meeting were to have been recorded by CMC which did not occur.

The entire Board is more than willing to address any questions and request your attendance at the upcoming Annual meeting. There is an abundance of positive efforts to report. Or if you’d like, please contact the HOA Board directly and submit your concerns.
