  • Third Solar Light in Park

    Third Solar Light in Park

Though there were some issues at first, there is now a new, 3rd, solar light in the park. Again, the objective was to provide light on and around the basketball court as well as the west side entry pathway.

Solar lights do not get as bright as electrical powered lights, but considering the low cost and free power for the sun, I think it works well for our purposes.

The Board does have more ideas for the parks, but I think everyone can agree the changes, additions we’ve made in the past few years have improved on safety as well as providing the new disc golf activity. We hope to add more activities by the year’s end.

  • Solar Lighted Park Pathway

    Solar Lighted Park Pathway

The West side pathway into the park now has a much needed solar light. That part of the park was always a dark spot at night.

This solar light was originally placed by the basketball court, however it wasn’t doing any good there and the Board felt it could be better utilized by providing light for that pathway.. which you can see it, indeed, does.

We have also moved the solar light on the other side of the basketball court to where the above mentioned light used to sit, between the ramada and the court. And we will then have another solar light, a hopefully brighter light, that will be going up on the West side of the court. Stay tuned for that post soon.

  • More Solar Lighting

    More Solar Lighting

We know there are some residents that like to utilize the park at night. where to play basketball, sit at the benches or just to walk around. While we encourage use of the park, even at night, while being respectful of neighboring homes and keeping the sound down, of course, we do want to make it a safe as possible. A months back, we added one solar light as a sort of trial, which seemed to be working successfully, so we then added one to the ramada where the table is. Again, successful. The ramada in the smaller park will be getting one as well (plus a new table) soon.

Now we have added another solar light to give some focus to the basketball court. We didn’t want anything too bright as to shine in players eyes as they shoot the ball, but we wanted to bring enough light as well. We may added another light on the opposite side of the court as well, if needed.

  • Solar Light Added In Park

    Solar Light Added In Park

We’ve added a new solar light in the large park just off the side of the basketball court. The goal is the light the darker side of the park and it seems to be doing just fine in that area. We will be testing it out for a few months and possibly will be adding a few more if it works out. We may add one above the basketball net to help light the court as well. While we know thinning the trees will help with that, having a light dedicated to the court would be help all year round.

  • More Vandalism in the Parks

    More Vandalism in the Parks

Well, I was about to post on the new table and benches we added to the parks, but then someone or some persons had to and ruin things… again.

They flipped the newly installed table between the group of trees on it’s side, pulling the concrete supports out of the ground with it. This was, well is, the 3rd table for the parks and was the reason we had placed a 3rd trashcan and grill in that area earlier. I say, “is” because the table seems to be ok, but it will need to be installed again, with deeper supports, which will cost the community more money.

Unfortunately, this was not the only table that got vandalized. The smaller park’s table in the ramada was flipped upside down. They seemed to have unscrewed one of the lag bolts and pulled the other out of the concrete, making a crack around the hole where the bolt used to be.

This is just the latest in a growing list of damages and theft in recent years. A police report has been filed and those who are caught doing any kind of theft, vandalism and/or damages will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and and will be fined any costs for full replacement of items or repair to property.

Please help your community stay safe and look great!

If you see anyone doing any of the things mentioned above, or if you have any information on the damages in the photos below, or anything else that should likely be reported, please contact our Community Manager, or the HOA Board directly. Remember, theft, vandalism and/or damages, will add costs to the community, which in the end, will lead to higher assessment fees and fines.

Photos below are of some of the damages.

  • Accent Lights on the New Steps

Accent Lights on the New Steps

We’ve added some accent solar lights to the newly installed platform steps at the north side of the large park. While it wasn’t that dark there at night, it does provide some light to show where the steps edges are.

Stay tuned for more lighting updates soon.

  • Theft & Damages in the Community

Theft & Damages in the Community

Recently there have been theft of flowers from the entryway monuments on Acoma, tampering with the solar lights, and damages to community property including the message board and shed. This cost the community money and, in the end, you the residents will pay for it with increased fees and possibly fines, unless we do something about it.

During my (Jason/President) on the Board, my main goal was to make this community look better with flowers, plants and more and to drive a sense of an actual community and friendship by having meet ups, BBQs and events like we just had for Halloween. I’ve lived here for about 12 years now, before I came on the Board, I hadn’t ever heard of any community BBQ nor any other event. My fellow Board members and I spend our own time doing this because we live here as well and want to see this community thrive. We want to get to know our neighbors and we want to take pride in the way the community looks. I don’t think any of us want to live in a place where is looks like its not being taken care of, where things are damaged and stolen.

A few weeks back some 20 or so flowers were taken from one of the monuments. We replaced those flowers and last night, as I was checking out the solar lights, I noticed not some, but all, flowers, from both monuments were gone. Naturally, I contacted our landscaper to see if he was working on replacing them again. But that was not the case, all flowers were take.. stolen! Who does that? I drove around the other communities to see if it was just us, and it seems so as Legacy Park has similar monuments with all of their flowers in place and lights on. Our entryway monuments may not be on all sides nor on a main street, but I personally love coming home at night and seeing them lit up and full of plants and flowers.

As for the message board, I, by myself, created the housing around it, again on my own time, without compensation. Why? Because we needed a central place for all residents to get and post information. Yes, this is also the reason I created this website, but not everyone wants to get info online and others just may not think about checking here. Having a message board gave a visual element to the community. You could just drive by and see if there was something posted or not. It gave residents a place to post your own flyers, events or lost pets. But instead of using this properly, the pins were taken, section titles were tossed and plexiglass was broken.

Along with the message board, we had a small shed for the Board to store a few supplies in. Anthony had painted that shed to match the message board colors. It may not have been the greatest shed, but it was good enough for what we needed and to see things that we worked on, treated so badly, is not a good feeling. The supplies kept in it were expensive either, luckily, mostly just things for our events; like games and activities for the kids and some small gifts like pencils and erasers. These and a few other things have been transferred to different Board members as the members change due to elections. To us, it only made sense to have a singular place for us to store things rather than our own garages. But that shed, sadly, didn’t last 4 months before it was completely destroyed and was broken into within the first month.

    We Need Your Help

If you know who did any of these things or have info you’d like to share, we will keep your name anonymous but share the info with the Police. We do have at least one witness who has provided some info and that is all that will be shared at the moment. But know that we are not taking this lightly and those involved will be prosecuted by law and fined for the amount of damages.

  • 2nd Attempt Election Results

    2nd Attempt Election Results

It was a very close call, but we did meet quorum this time with the minimum of 28 submitted ballots.

Jason Etzel and Anthony Wrinkler were voted for and will remain on the Board. Jason has been President for most of the past 2 years, while Anthony was appointed to the Board by the current Board members, Jason and Wayne to fill in the 3rd seat. This Board was taken down to a 3 member Board last year.

The Board has agreed to remain in their current seats with one exception, Anthony will now occupy the role of Treasurer. Please keep in mind however, while we do have our individual roles, that this Board also works closely together, along with our Community Management team, we all try to help out each other and ensure we’re all in the know and double checking details, invoices, financials and more. This is how things should be handled and will remain being handled for as long as we are on the Board. This is why the community has been looking better and why we are getting things done.

Together this Board has added new activities, tables and benches, and solar lights to the parks or adding the message board and this website to post community updates to, and more.. and of course, we’re not even close to being done.

  • Light Shines on Our Monuments

    Light Shines on Our Monuments

We have added some solar lights to the monuments as you enter from Acoma. These lights not only shine a little light on the community name but also are part of our efforts to improve the community visuals and show nearby residents and visitors that we care about our community and how it’s viewed by others.

As part of those efforts to improve the community, we also are trying to make it safer. We already added one large LED solar light in the park to help bring some light to an otherwise darker area. But we have seen various people using the ramadas at night and it is quite dark, so we also added a solar light there. The smaller park’s ramada will be getting one as well shortly, as well as a new table.

  • New Trash Cans and Grills

    New Trash Cans and Grills

As some of you know, after the annual meeting on Tuesday, we had a “Meet Your Neighbor” BBQ event and we had the pleasure of cooking on the new grills added to the parks. There are basically the same type of grills we had before but they have a bit stronger grilling section. This is where the old grills seemed to fall apart on us and why they needed to be replaced.

We also went ahead and replaced the trash cans as well. These new cans have a bigger lid and should help contain the waste inside better and not allow things to be blown out from inside the cans.

    AZ SPRUCE UP

Rob and his company AZ Spruce Up have installed these new BBQ grills and trash cans. They are also the ones whom installed and donated the blind child sign and the solar lights.
