Last we didn’t get the banners up on time like we had wanted to. We apologize for this and we wanted to extend the community yard sale event to this weekend as well. We have purposely left the banners up this whole week to help advertise the event.
Rain? Yes, most likely it will rain this weekend again. So keep that in mind and use any canopies you have or leave everything in your garages and just have the door open, to show off your goods.
The event is from Friday, Nov 21st through Sunday, Nov 23rd. We do always suggest the times of between 6am to 2pm.
Community Signs
Now we have an update on the community signs we put in place last year. It seems we needed a permit for them, which is fine, but the bigger issue is that because of the size of them, the city is wanting a more permanent base, something more like the monuments. Which as you know, one of the signs, as you enter from Acoma on 157th, sits just next to the monument.
So for now, the signs will come down. But we are working with the city to find another solution or location where we can place them.
Part of the reasoning behind getting these signs in the first place was to give us a place to hang banners, like our community yard sale ones. But we also had plans to get more to help advertise other events. These would include HOA meetings, holiday events and more. We hung the larger banners on these signs. In previous years, these banners were hung over the monuments and it just wasn’t a good look.
You may be aware, we also place these banners on the railings off Acoma. Well during these talks with the city we also were made aware that we could no hang the banners on those either. Maybe with a different type of banners that has vents might make that more helpful, but again we’ll be working with the city to find a better solution. One solution would be to hang them on the walls. We do already do this on 157th and Hern.
We will keep you update when we know more and decide where the signs will be moving to and how or where the banners will be hung.
