The HOA Board has created this new website for keep the community updated on information and current events. It is also our goal to have open communication with our community residents, a way for them to contact us directly, if needed, and also contact information for our management company, Thrive.
New content will be added but the board would also like to know what information or content our residents would like to see on this website. If you have any ideas, please let us know by contacting us using the button above.
Hey neighbors! We all love the place we call home, right? Our community offers so much — from green parks to friendly faces. But there are a few things we need to remember to keep it that way. From picking up after our pets to respecting shared spaces, let’s all do our part to make sure this is a place we’re proud to live in!
Keep It Clean: Don’t Leave Trash Behind! We’ve all seen it: a stray soda can here, a snack wrapper there. It’s easy to forget, but littering affects us all. So next time you’re out for a walk or hanging out in the park, make sure that empty coffee cup or snack wrapper makes it into the trash. It’s an easy way to help keep our community looking great!c
Respect the Parks – They’re for Everyone! The parks are a shared space, which means we all need to be mindful of others. Whether you’re enjoying a picnic, playing a game of catch, or just soaking in the sunshine, it’s important to respect the environment and the people around you. Also, please do not ride any motorized vehicles or equipment (such as ATVs, dirt bikes, or scooters) within the parks, as they can cause significant damage to the grounds. Let’s all be considerate so everyone can enjoy these common spaces!
Picking Up After Your Dog (and Yourself) We love pets around here, but let’s be honest — nobody wants to step in something unpleasant. Always scoop the poop and make sure your dog’s waste is disposed of properly. And keep your dog on a leash while in the park! This helps keep everyone safe and ensures that our furry friends are under control. To make it even easier, we’ve got bag dispensers posted throughout the community. If you’re in need, grab a bag — and if you notice that the dispensers are running low, feel free to pitch in! Just donate any extra grocery bags by stuffing them into the bag holder so others can use them too. It’s a simple act that keeps our spaces clean and usable for everyone.
Stop Vandalism, Theft, and Damage – They Cost Us All A quick reminder: damaging property, stealing, and graffiti are not only disrespectful but costly. These activities affect the whole community, and the repairs often come out of our association fees. So when you see suspicious behavior or damage to our common areas, speak up! These activities will only drive up our fees, and nobody wants that. Let’s all do our part to keep the community safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.
Chickens/Poultry Are Not Permitted Just a quick reminder that chickens and poultry are not permitted in the community, according to both HOA bylaws and the City of Surprise law. While it might seem harmless to keep a few chickens, the feed and water can attract pigeons — and those pigeons can cause a lot of trouble! They are a health hazard that leads to roof damage, the spread of disease, and an overall mess. Their acidic feces can cause significant material damage to roofs, often leading to leaks and costly repairs. Please refrain from keeping poultry, and let’s keep our community safe and clean for everyone!
We Want Your Feedback: Survey Time!
We value your input as a resident of our community. Beyond the usual maintenance issues like wall repairs, painting, landscaping, and tree trimming, we want to hear what YOU would like to see in our neighborhood!
What features would you like to see in the parks?
What should we do with the water retention area on 155th and Gelding? A dog park? Grass? Exercise equipment? Or do you have other ideas?
What kind of community events would you like to participate in?
Please know that this survey is where you can share your ideas and help shape the future of our community. Your voice matters, and together, we can make our neighborhood even better!
Let’s all work together to keep our community safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone. By respecting these simple rules, staying engaged through our website, and providing feedback, we’re not just following guidelines — we’re creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Thanks for being awesome neighbors!
We have added new signs on Acoma and 159th and 157th.
The above sign, which just says Greenway Parc 2, Surprise AZ, was done in a style that I created for the message board, a sort of unofficial logo for GWP2. It’s meant to showcase the bounds of the community.
The other, on 157th entrance from Acoma, sits just behind the monument on the west side. This is meant to inform guests and residents of this website, where all information and updates are posted to.
Really though, the main reason we added these signs is because we had already placed posts on those corners, which we use for the community yard sale banners. Previously, those banners were tied to trees or covered up the monument and we didn’t feel that was right. So we added the posts, but then the posts were just left there when no banners were hanging, which also wasn’t right. So adding permanent signs with useful information seemed like a win/win situation.
The message board will be returning soon, however in a beefier cabinet. But with the new sign, we’re hoping more residents will look to this site more for updates and events.
Due to the fact that the website was down due to a hosting issue, we wanted to give more time for residents to know about the event and therefore have pushed it to next weekend. We will be sending out an email about this change as well.
Recently there have been theft of flowers from the entryway monuments on Acoma, tampering with the solar lights, and damages to community property including the message board and shed. This cost the community money and, in the end, you the residents will pay for it with increased fees and possibly fines, unless we do something about it.
During my (Jason/President) on the Board, my main goal was to make this community look better with flowers, plants and more and to drive a sense of an actual community and friendship by having meet ups, BBQs and events like we just had for Halloween. I’ve lived here for about 12 years now, before I came on the Board, I hadn’t ever heard of any community BBQ nor any other event. My fellow Board members and I spend our own time doing this because we live here as well and want to see this community thrive. We want to get to know our neighbors and we want to take pride in the way the community looks. I don’t think any of us want to live in a place where is looks like its not being taken care of, where things are damaged and stolen.
A few weeks back some 20 or so flowers were taken from one of the monuments. We replaced those flowers and last night, as I was checking out the solar lights, I noticed not some, but all, flowers, from both monuments were gone. Naturally, I contacted our landscaper to see if he was working on replacing them again. But that was not the case, all flowers were take.. stolen! Who does that? I drove around the other communities to see if it was just us, and it seems so as Legacy Park has similar monuments with all of their flowers in place and lights on. Our entryway monuments may not be on all sides nor on a main street, but I personally love coming home at night and seeing them lit up and full of plants and flowers.
As for the message board, I, by myself, created the housing around it, again on my own time, without compensation. Why? Because we needed a central place for all residents to get and post information. Yes, this is also the reason I created this website, but not everyone wants to get info online and others just may not think about checking here. Having a message board gave a visual element to the community. You could just drive by and see if there was something posted or not. It gave residents a place to post your own flyers, events or lost pets. But instead of using this properly, the pins were taken, section titles were tossed and plexiglass was broken.
Along with the message board, we had a small shed for the Board to store a few supplies in. Anthony had painted that shed to match the message board colors. It may not have been the greatest shed, but it was good enough for what we needed and to see things that we worked on, treated so badly, is not a good feeling. The supplies kept in it were expensive either, luckily, mostly just things for our events; like games and activities for the kids and some small gifts like pencils and erasers. These and a few other things have been transferred to different Board members as the members change due to elections. To us, it only made sense to have a singular place for us to store things rather than our own garages. But that shed, sadly, didn’t last 4 months before it was completely destroyed and was broken into within the first month.
We Need Your Help
If you know who did any of these things or have info you’d like to share, we will keep your name anonymous but share the info with the Police. We do have at least one witness who has provided some info and that is all that will be shared at the moment. But know that we are not taking this lightly and those involved will be prosecuted by law and fined for the amount of damages.
It was a very close call, but we did meet quorum this time with the minimum of 28 submitted ballots.
Jason Etzel and Anthony Wrinkler were voted for and will remain on the Board. Jason has been President for most of the past 2 years, while Anthony was appointed to the Board by the current Board members, Jason and Wayne to fill in the 3rd seat. This Board was taken down to a 3 member Board last year.
The Board has agreed to remain in their current seats with one exception, Anthony will now occupy the role of Treasurer. Please keep in mind however, while we do have our individual roles, that this Board also works closely together, along with our Community Management team, we all try to help out each other and ensure we’re all in the know and double checking details, invoices, financials and more. This is how things should be handled and will remain being handled for as long as we are on the Board. This is why the community has been looking better and why we are getting things done.
Together this Board has added new activities, tables and benches, and solar lights to the parks or adding the message board and this website to post community updates to, and more.. and of course, we’re not even close to being done.
The new community message board was finally installed this past weekend. It is a much needed part of this community that has been missing; a central single space for everyone to use to hang flyers, lost pets and business cards and for everyone to find the latest information on HOA meetings, events and news. This is the one spot all residents should come to, besides this website, to find information.
Soon, a Lost & Found box will be added just below the message board as well.
Message Board
As stated above, this message board is not just for HOA Board members to provide info to you, but also a way for you to provide info to the rest of the community as well. There are 2 doors on this message board, on the right is the HOA Board members side, which is locked. But on the left, you’ll find a keyless lock which can be opened by anyone, but we still wanted to ensure it was weather proof so we opted to have the keyless lock, still leaving the door in place. Inside, you’ll find push pins which you can use to post your flyers. Please do not take them and do not remove any headline titles that have been put in place, such as “Resident Posts.” Please also always ensure you close and lock the keyless door after use.
The Board would like to thank yours truly, el Presidente, aka Jason, as I built and painted the frame surrounding the message board and I donated my time to do so and VP Wayne, as he helped out in the concept stage and when I needed his insight. Here are some photos of the build.

Storage Shed
The shed is just of HOA Board member use. Please do not try to break in or attempt to see what’s in there. In fact, I’ll tell you what’s in there, the community yard sale banners and some miscellaneous storage. Having this shed is just a way for the Board members to have to keep moving things from one Board members house to another, each time new members come and old member go. There is nothing of value worth stealing and nothing that can’t be replaced. That being said, we like our little shed and we don’t want anything to happen to it. See the lawyer speak section below.
The Board would also like to thank Anthony, our 3rd Board member, as he did a great job painting the shed to match the theme we had envisioned for the message board, and Cameron, our neighbor, for helping us with the install.
Lawyer Speak
Please note that while we encourage all residents to post on the message board, any posts we deem inappropriate, offensive or in bad taste, and yes anything negative towards the HOA, Board members and/or any residents will be removed and said poster may be fined or reported to the Police, if necessary. Anyone caught doing any kind of damages, tagging or theft towards the message board and/or shed, will be fined the full amount to replace the all, in whole, the message board, custom frame and shed. In other words, don’t do it.
Also, do not post flyers to the mail boxes, as they are actually Federal property, and you may be fined if caught posting on them.
In the past, you may have seen flyers posted on the mailboxes, even the Board has been guilty of this, but those mailboxes are actually property of the federal government and posting on them is illegal. We have also noticed flyers being posted on light posts too (which some of forgotten to remove). This is one a big reasons why we wanted to create this website, for news and updates, such as this post and to share it with the community. But we forgot one part, you. You have no way of posting to the website. You can contact the Board with concerns or even if you have something you wanted to share with the community and we could post it for you, if it were appropriate for the community, as we did for the yoga in the park offer.
The Message Board
But not everyone visits this website, in fact some might not even know it’s here. Because of that, we still wanted a physical way of sharing news with you. And a way for you to share flyers, lost pets, sales, business cards, etc. So we will shortly have a new message board located at the edge of the large park on 157th. This would be visible to cars that drive by and any one walking or visiting the park. This message board will have 2 sections with closable doors. One will be for community news and updates only and will be lockable and for use by Board members. The other side will still have a glass door but the lock will have a permanent, affixed key which anyone could open pin their post(s). The door is there just to make it weather proof. This will be on the honor system. You will need to be respectful of other posted flyers and out dated or unapproved post will be removed. And getting back to this website, we’d also like for you to have the ability to list your business info. Stay tuned for more info on that coming shortly.
The Shed
On top of that, we will have a small shed behind the message board. This is just for Board member use, to store small supplies, but we will also be attaching some sort of bin or box to the side of the shed that will be used for a lost and found. Just a simple box to keep things in, if anyone so happens to see things left at the parks. A first place for everyone to look for their lost belongings.
Jason Etzel, our current HOA President, has taken the necessary steps to create our own Greenway Parc 2 community boundary within the Nextdoor App. For those who on active on this app, you will know that most users in this area are usually placed in the Legacy Park neighborhood as apparently when that boundary was setup, it was basically the whole area rather than it’s actual boundary.
If you are active in that app, your neighborhood should be have updated automatically because of your address, but if it has not, please reach out to him directly through that app.
You first have to contact the leads/founder for the neighborhood you’re in. In our case, it was Legacy Parc. When I tried I never received a reply. You can contact them via a private message, which you can find by clicking on the green ‘Message’ button next to their name in the Neighborhood Directory.
It’s not a very good system they have setup for this, because the first person who creates a boundary for the area has control and can makes other leads as well. I guess Nextdoor thinks that person must know everything to give that kind of ability. In our case that person created the Legacy Parc boundary around all the others.. so they are the ones that can create or suggest new boundaries within that one.
Since the leads didn’t reply I could then contact support. Support then told me they then have to try to contact the leads as well. It took a few weeks in total because I had to wait for replies from the leads and then from support. And of course, the leads never replied to support either.
Then I had to proved to my boundary area to support, which I did by using Google maps and our HOA website because I had added a Google maps with our boundary on it. Once support created our boundary, it seems anyone in that had their address within that boundary had their neighborhood updated automatically in the App.
But then there is a 21 day waiting period for anyone to protest I guess. If it was a new area where no one lived you would have to invite a certain number of people to your neighborhood before that waiting period ends. In my case we already had all our residents so we should be good once the waiting period is over.
There is a help page on this in Nextdoor’s help section but it just explains what I said, and in less detail.
While I’m sure we all know how to stay safe and to try stay indoors during the monsoon storms, what may not be clear is how to report certain things, like a downed tree, community damages or other leaking water.
There are contact listings available on this website which we try to keep it updated and add to it all the time. If you feel there are important listings that should be included, please contact the Board and let us know.
I will include some of the more important contacts below (click the titles for more info):
Downed Trees Trees that have broken branches hanging down or broken off or even whole trees that may have come down due to a storm or high winds should immediately be reported to our community manager and/or the HOA Board. If a tree is blocking part of a street, then in this case, you can notify the city of Surprise and they should come remove the tree or at least move it off the road.
Water Outage or Leak If there is a leak within the community, this may just be a irrigation issue and should be reported to the community manager right away. However, if there is a flooded area or you house is without water, Epcor should be contacted. If you are in the need of sand bags, help is available through city of Surprise.
Power Outage If you are experiencing a power outage, please contact APS immediately.
Cox Outage Please call Cox Communications directly to report any cable tv, internet or phone outages or issues.
Centurylink Outage Please call CenturyLink directly to report phone, tv, or internet outages or issues in the area.
Street Light Outage and More Street lights that are out can be reported online through the city of Surprise’s website. They also now have a mobile app available. Besides street lights, a number of things can be reported through this website including, graffiti, missing signs, flooded roadways, potholes or you can even request certain records.
Bulk Trash Pickup If you need to schedule a bulk trash pickup, please contact the city of Surprise’s Solid Waste Department. Please do not place these pickups on the street until the night before of the pickup. If you need to place it before then, please contact the community manager or HOA Board.
Please note that if you contact the community manager in these cases, they will notify the Board as well.
As some of you know, after the annual meeting on Tuesday, we had a “Meet Your Neighbor” BBQ event and we had the pleasure of cooking on the new grills added to the parks. There are basically the same type of grills we had before but they have a bit stronger grilling section. This is where the old grills seemed to fall apart on us and why they needed to be replaced.
We also went ahead and replaced the trash cans as well. These new cans have a bigger lid and should help contain the waste inside better and not allow things to be blown out from inside the cans.
AZ SPRUCE UP
Rob and his company AZ Spruce Up have installed these new BBQ grills and trash cans. They are also the ones whom installed and donated the blind child sign and the solar lights.
As your Board President it was brought to my attention a FaceBook post that had a few questions I am more than willing to address.
First, David Gillies owned a home in GWP2 and was Board President. He has over 30 years high level business experience. A number of residents including the current Board asked for some of his insights when CMC cancelled their contract and prior Board President left. He will be happy to answer any call 1-630-240-7022. Please leave a message and he will call you back to discuss your concerns. David Gillies does this Pro Bono.
The community website was undertaken as emergency measure when CMC departed to give residents much needed information when confusion reigned. I do monitor the website and make additions of content that provides information and updates to our recent significant progress.
The Annual meeting was changed when there was discovery of HOA law that mandated a prior vacated Board position be up for election. The minutes from a prior community meeting were to have been recorded by CMC which did not occur.
The entire Board is more than willing to address any questions and request your attendance at the upcoming Annual meeting. There is an abundance of positive efforts to report. Or if you’d like, please contact the HOA Board directly and submit your concerns.
It came to the attention of the Board that there is a bind child in the community. His family had tried to get a sign put up in the past letting drivers know that a blind child could be playing in the area. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown, the city had denied them the requested sign. When the Board heard about this, we immediately reached out to our community manager, Rachael at Brown Management, to see if there was something we could do to help. Long story short, we connected with Rob over at AZ Spruce Up, which his company not only installed the double sided sign, but also donated it for the family and community.
Rob with AZ Spruce Up – Many thanks!!
Father and Son of the Family
AZ SPRUCE UP
Rob and his company have not only installed this sign, but also the new BBQ grills and trash cans in the parks. We will be using his company for other things as well in the future.
By now most of you should have received a notice from Brown Community Managemet, Inc., stating that they will be our new management company starting on November 1st. This is true. Greenway Parc 2 and our past management company, Thrive, have agreed to a mutual separation. While they were not with us for very long, they did help lay the foundation to get the community moving in the right direction and the HOA Board wishes them the greatest success.
We have chosen Brown Management to continue where Thrive is leaving off and we only see good things to come with this new management. Rachael Rich, will be our new community manager and even before they have officially started, I know her and the rest of the team at Brown Management have been hard at work getting things setup, working with Thrive to ensure a smooth transition and even looking in to getting bids on things the community still needs to work on.
The Board is also working on getting some much needed attention to the Acoma and 157th entry way monuments, adding granite (rocks) to areas that need it, replanting of flowers, plants and trees and other exciting property enhancements. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available as the Board will always post the latest news and updates here on this website. Also be sure to check back here from notifications about events and meetings. Be sure to sign up on our email list below.
